Raw Stuage prevailed in yesterday's bocce playoff!!! Double champs this year! Yesterday I posted that we have never won the league title and playoff title in the same year. After looking at the plaques we have indeed won both in the same year (2005). How quickly I forget.
On my drive home from the golf club I played "We are the Champions" by Queen. Freddie sure is rockin' the tight shorts in this one.
That is all for now. I must read a grant proposal. Not very exciting but when the money is approved it sure it.

Long Time No Talk
Well, it has been a while since I last did a post. I have been busy the last couple of months. Let's see what happened.
1. Was sick for about a month
2. Got better then was puke sick for a couple of days.
3. Recovered just in time for my good buddy George's wedding in Calgary. I wish I could have spent more time in Calgary hanging out with George and Goggles (and their wives of course). I got to go go-carting for the first time ever. It was really fun. I recommend it.
4. Finally went golfing.
5. Did some gaming.
6. Won the Legion Bocce League title again. Raw Stuage League champs 4 out the the past 7 years.
7. Went fishing a few times.
8. Fighting a really sore neck/pinched nerve for over a week now. What the hell is up with that!
Raw Stuage will attempt to win the Legion League Playoff title today as well. We have won the playoff title 3 years but never in the same year as the League championship. We would like to be a double winner this year for the first time. Eye of the Tiger baby!!
I was supposed to golf today in my first Match Play League game but alas it was pouring rain. This is the main reason I have a few minutes to do a new post.
Question: How come when you are on the lake in a boat everyone waves at each other, yet when you are in car you only wave if you know the other person? Perhaps it is because you are having fun on the lake and when you are driving it usually isn't for fun.
I saw a few movies since I last posted.
A. Star Trek. Great movie. I am not 100% opposed to time travel but it can really screw things up. In this case I think it fit with what they were trying to do, and that is reboot the franchise.
B. Wolverine. Ahhhh, not bad, not good. It could have been better. I sometimes think a good movie needs a good villain. This one had a decent villain but not great. Character development was poor and generally I like the character development driven movies. Ala, The Watchmen. Good flick.
C. Terminator. I went in thinking the story would be weak with lots of action. That is what I got so overall I thought it was good. It was what I expected. The Terminator movies never had a great story. Time travel anyone? Just don't think about it too much and you will be ok.
Upcoming movies.
1. Transformers. I think it will be just like the first one but with more T&A from Megan Fox. The first Transformers movie was ok. Too bad it wasn't about Transformers. They should have called it People with some Transformers in it. I am not a huge fan of Shia LeBeouf either. He is ok but not great.
2. GI Joe. Well, what can I say about this one. I have already made some comments months ago. I think it will be a decent action flick that should be called something other than GI Joe. Accelerator suits WTF! Like the Transformers my beloved childhood memories will be crushed again.
3. Harry Potter. I still haven't read the books and as such I don't think I have the same appreciation for the movie compared to someone who has. These movies are all the same to me. I will go see it but in the end I won't remember a damn thing about it. I will have to read the books someday.
Perhaps next post I will do a toy review on my new Sideshow Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes figures. Well, that is all for now. I gotta get ready for bocce.

My Name is Bruce!
Well, I haven't posted in a while. Mostly because I have been sick and busy at the same time. I still have a nagging sore throat. This is week three. Hopefully I don't have the swine flu.
Anyway, I must comment on the title of this post "My Name is Bruce". This is a great Bruce Campbell movie. If you are not a Bruce Campbell fan and don't know who he is then I say good sir, You Suck! I am embarrassed to say but I had a little doubt about this movie before going in. I need to repent and take it all back. I perhaps need to go to church and confess. Well, that may be taking it too far. Bruce Campbell delivers in this movie. New classic one liners mixed in with some of his old classic one liners. What more can I ask for? The answer is more Bruce Campbell. Expanding on what on I said above, if you don't know who he is then you should maybe read his book. I have it if you want to borrow it.
I also watched Caprica last night. It was a good watch and it has already filled in a few blanks to the back story of Battlestar Galactica. I believe the Caprica TV series starts in January. I know I will be watching it. Will you?
To end the night last night I watched some classic G.I. Joe cartoons. Good stuff. Some of it is pretty cheesy and dated but I like escaping to my youth. I watched the Arise Serpentor Arise series. Again, if you don't know who Serpentor is then you I suggest you learn. While not the best character from the G.I. Joe series I always liked him as a kid. I just thought he was cool. Not Cobra Commander cool though.
I watched first episode of the Venture Bros. today. Seems like a very promising cartoon. I laughed and I cried and ate breakfast. Actually, I didn't cry.
I guess I should go now. I am getting ready for some sort of bus tour tonight where there are a bunch of stops at different houses. At each stop you drink and eat. I think I am going to need a nap.

G.I. Joe Resolute
I have got some great links for you today. Some of you know that I am a big G.I. Joe fan. In fact I like G.I. Joe almost as much as Star Wars. When Hasbro released their 25th anniversary line of action figures I could not resist. It brought back memories of running up the stairs (when they were in the middle of the store) at The Bay (now the Northern store) and seeing all the Joes on display. Funny, that I only remember buying Scrap Iron there. I should correct that and say my parents buying Scrap Iron for me. One day I would love to display all my old toys. I haven't seen them in years and I hope they have weathered well at my parents house. If Kim and I ever find a bigger house I am bustin' those suckers out.
Some may ask, why do I love G.I. Joe so much? I think, like with Star Wars, I am drawn to the characters. G.I. Joe has a ton of different characters and I find myself drawn to strong unique character stories. I think that is why the remake of Battlestar appeals to me so much. They have great characters.
Well, onto the the cool stuff for this post. If you are a 30 something year old guy you probably remember watching a lot of the G.I. Joe and Transformers cartoons in the 80's. The recent release of the G.I. Joe DVD/Action Figure M.A.S.S device packs were great. There have been a few Joe cartoons released since the classic series but they were not great. Thankfully, my wish of a new cartoon based on the classic series has finally come true. A new cartoon series was just released this week and it is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The first three episodes are up on Youtube. Well, they are actually up on Adult Swim but because I don't live in the U.S. and A I can't watch them on their website. The Internet is truly a wonderful thing though and I can watch them on a different site. You can watch them Here, here, and here.
I won't ruin the awesomeness of this cartoon for you but if you like seeing your old favourite Joes in their classic costumes this is for you. The story is great. The only bad part is that the episodes are only about 5 minutes long. When they are all released I think the total length is supposed to be about an hour. Perhaps if there is enough interest in it they will make some more.
For those of you that don't know the there is a live action G.I. Joe movie coming out this year on August. You can watch the trailer here. I am very skeptical on how this movie is going to turn out. Seeing some of the new toys makes me really nervous. This movie could really suck. The look of Cobra Commander really scares me. WTF!! Where is his hood?? What kind of shitty mask is that! Has the director ever read the comic book or watched the cartoon? I am going to try and go into that movie open minded and pretend I don't know anything about G.I. Joe.
If the movie doesn't pan out I can always buy the original cartoon series that will finally be released on DVD.
I almost forgot, if anyone knows somebody in the Hamilton area who is willing to stand in line for me for about 5-6 hours on May 2 please let me know. I am willing to dish out $100 to anyone who will go and stand in line for me at the Hamilton Convention Centre for the annual Canadian G.I. Joe convention. Why would I ask somebody to do this for me? Well, the deal is they must get in line early enough to buy the five convention toy exclusives. Here are a few pics that are part of the set. There are only 100 sets. This is not a joke and I am being serious here. The condition for the $100 is that you have to actually get the set for me to pay you. I will pay you for the set as well (obviously). My guess is that you will have to be in line at 3-4am. It is quite an experience to stand in line to get in to a convention at that time in the morning with other people who are just as crazy as you. Here are the rules for buying the exclusives. Yes, there are rules. It would be chaos without them. Hopefully, someone takes me up on this offer.
Well, that is all for now. I hope you enjoy the new cartoon as much as I do.

The Coach Part 2
Well, today was our B-Ball tourney in Dryden and it was heck of a ride. Although, we could not technically win the tournament we still had fun, going 2 wins 1 loss in the round robin and losing in the final. Coaching a team sport is a very interesting experience. Every game is completely different. It allows you to relive your youth through others.
I always preach to my team that someone is going to get hurt. Thankfully, we did not have any major injuries but nearing the end of our final game one of the girls took a ball square in the face. Not a pleasant thing. She toughed it out. Not to forget my other player whose head rebounded off the floor and stayed in the game. They are troopers to be sure.
I am proud to say my team was one tough group of girls. The game against Pinewood was the most physical game I have ever been part of as a coach. I learn something new all the time. Do you tell your girls to back down in the face of elbows, pushing, punching etc? It was almost like something out of a movie. The other team sends on a player and as they come onto the court they nudge our player. Don't mess with a 13 year girl. Well, let's just say I didn't tell my team to back down. After our very rough and tumble game one of the coaches from another team commented to me that they were a little nervous because they had to play us next. Intimidation factor? maybe, being labeled as goons? maybe. Nonetheless, we won the next game. It was a clean game. All our other games were pretty clean. It is interesting to be part of a heated game. How do games turn into grudge matches? I will leave that one to the philosophers. A person could write a book on that kind of thing. There probably are some books about this out there and perhaps I will look it.
I always wonder how someone else would coach the same group of girls I did. Would they do better, worse, the same? A question that will never be answered. All in all it was a good season. I am always a little sad to see it all end but the rest is good. This is the last time the team will be together. I will always be able to say I had a role to play in the lives of their basketball careers. Maybe one day one of them will become a superstar and send me a royalty cheque.
There are five returning players next year. Who knows what the future may bring.
Turn up the Heat!

Battlestar Galactica
Did anyone catch the final espisode of BSG? The first hour was awesome, the second hour not as good. In the end the show's creators have left it up to us to fill in a few gaps. Overall, the ending was mostly satisfying. With the popularity of the show I can see many spin offs to feed the coffers of all those involved. I am a whore for Star Wars so I fully understand how this stuff works. Thanks George. A couple of spin offs have already been done called Caprica and BSG The Plan. Here is a trailer. The Caprica pilot movie will be released on DVD in April and from what I understand the series will be starting January 2010. BSG The Plan will be released in November.
In watching the final episode of BSG on Friday my toy collecting mind could only see the possibilities. Doesn't everyone want a new red striped Cylon?
Enough about BSG except for this: What did I learn from BSG? Well, I learned that no matter how bad things are when you are floating aimless through space being chased by crazy robots there will always be an unending supply of booze and smokes. What more do you need? One tube of toothpaste left, well who cares, I can drink my sorrows away.
Well, the hockey tournament in Sioux is over today. I wonder how busy I will be at work tomorrow when everyone starts to head home. We shall see.
This time of year I wonder what new pot holes will show up in front of my house and around town. I always think of the bypass route and remember when my old high school teacher fought tooth and nail to stop them putting it in. Maybe he should have focused his efforts to get the contractors to properly dig out the ground and fill it before paving. I am sure those contractors don't care. They got paid.
Well, I guess I should hit the treadmill. I haven't been on it much that last couple of weeks. I have to keep at it to fit my news pants.

Score another victory for Raw Stuage
In a nail biter finish last night Raw Stuage defeated Home Brew in the Legion indoor bocce playoffs. Home Brew was actually comprised of two players from Raw Stuage as they were filling in for missing members.
This time change just screws with my day. It is only an hour but I feel robbed somehow. I truly believe we no longer need to have daylight savings time.

The Coach
Yesterday was a long day. Up at 5:00am and finally got home at about 9:30pm. For those of you that don't know I was in Kenora for the day with my basketball team. I have coached grade 7/8 girls basketball for 4 years now at Sacred Heart School. We did well considering we were playing against a few schools with a much bigger population. We managed to go 1-2 that included an overtime win. I am not normally an excitable person but those overtime games sure increase my blood pressure. It is interesting to experience what my high school basketball coach must have went through when we won everything by only a couple of points.
We have one more tourney in Dryden at the end of month. The Dryden tournament is Public School board run and while we probably wouldn't win it all anyway we actually can't win it regardless. The Public board invites the Dryden and Sioux Lookout Catholic teams but in the end we can't be crowned champions. You would think that there could just be one tournament or series of tournaments among all the school boards in the region where all schools could participate and have a chance of winning. Gotta love politics. One day I foresee the demise of all school boards. The Ontario provincial government was pressured heavily in the last election about having separate school boards for Catholic schools because they would not provide school funding to create boards for other religious sects. In time I think there will be more pressure from these other religious groups and the government may just decide to have one system with no school boards at all. Problem solved right?
Don't forget to get your newly Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival Flags. Large and small. I don't have a picture of one but you can see it up on the flag pole at the Travel Information Centre when you drive by. The flags are quite nice.
Well I guess I gotta get back on the treadmill before my Bocce playoff tonight at the Legion. I was at McDonalds yesterday so I gotta burn some calories. FYI, my final weigh at work for our six week contest was 215lbs. I lost 17 pounds. Not to shabby for a fat lazy guy. I plan to continue the exercise thing.

Lazy
Well, another week has passed by in a blur. I was in T-Bay for a few days for work. I have been a lazy as of late and have not been on the treadmill. I probably gained a few pounds back. I have actually lost 14 pounds since the beginning of February. Not bad for a fat lazy guy.
This week should be busy as well. I am traveling with my basketball team to Kenora on Friday. I hope the girls do well. It is a long day.
I have been trying to think out something to post about Sioux Lookout news and it has been tough this week. It has been slow and I haven't been around. I see Mcfee's(Fatheads) is open again. The building must have passed the structural analysis or whatever was done to make sure it was safe. I wonder when the sidewalk tunnel will come down. It sure looks bad. Speaking of looking bad, I wonder what will happen to the old Sioux Hotel. The building is still sitting empty with the top floor still showing the burn damage with no windows. There must be mold growing in there. We should get a betting pool going on which old building will be knocked down first or which one will just fall down. The old Sacred Heart School, Sioux Hotel, Train Station, burnt house on east Front St. by my office. There are probably a few more buildings we could add to the list. The train station and the old Sioux Hotel are supposed to be fixed up but who knows when this will happen.
I see the voting is done and my naked bum won. I will have to oblige at some point. I will also try to think of something else to vote on....

News
Well, it seems that the voting continues and my naked bum is way out in front. I guess I will have to post a picture.... Stay tuned.
I must say hanging out with a baby all day is tiring. The funny part is that I didn't do anything. I think babies are energy stealers. I also learned that a empty egg carton and a bottle cap have a lot of entertainment value. Instead of collecting toys I should be collecting these things. What do you think? I could have a room full of egg cartons hanging off the wall. In the end it probably would look like a padded room and maybe that is where I would be sent in the end.
As for Sioux Lookout news I don't have a lot. McFee's(Fathead's) seems to be closed indefinitely when some bricks came tumbling down. The warm streak was enough to finally finish the job of years of deterioration. From the looks of it the bricks were just for show and not structural support. I could be wrong. I imagine a few bucks went into the building of the Front Street tunnel. Maybe we should name the new tunnel. Any thoughts? We could also do a betting pool of how long the tunnel will stay up. I also imagine a building structural analysis will not be cheap. I guess we will find out what will happen to the establishment. The pond hockey tournament was today. I did not make it to see any games. I am sure it went over well. The weather was nice anyway. On the plus side Johnny's wasn't busy today because everyone was down at the pond hockey.
I have always thought about doing a "Remember When" article in the newspaper. The Sioux Bulletin does post a weekly picture of the front page from an older paper but it seems they only go back to 2004. I would like to see an article about old contraversial items from the past and to see how things were eventually resolved or not resolved. To start off they could go with a series of articles(incidents) a number of years ago when there was a streaker in town. From what I remember the streaker would appear in the distance for a short time. It seems to me he even did an appearance in the graveyard. I don't think he was ever caught. I have my suspions of who it was but I will never know for sure. Mr. Streaker if you are reading this perhaps you could drop me a line.
Anyone watch Battlestar Galactica(BSG)? This is by far the best show on TV. I am sad that it will be ending soon. This week's episode was a bit weak compared to the last few but still great. It makes me wonder if we are all Cylons?????????????

Snowblower
It seems I have had a few visitors and that is great. Three people have voted on what they want to see. My naked bum is out to an early lead. Perhaps I should be turning this blog into a porn site. Do you think there is a market out there for pictures of fat geeky guys? If some of my friends are willing to be models with me we would be able to come up with a lot of content. Food for thought. I wonder if there are any sites out there like that. I have never looked mostly because fat geeky guys don't turn me on.
I was just outside trying to change a belt on my snow blower. I am not the most handy guy, mostly because I am lazy when it comes to that sort of thing. I must say I almost have it fixed, I just need someone to help me hold the pieces together so I can put the bolts back in. That is definitely a two man job. My dad is supposed to come by so that should solve the problem. He just called and it coming over. I guess I will cut this off now. Don't forget to vote. Remember you can vote on more than one item.
Yo Joe!!

Raw Stuage!!
I have been thinking about doing this for quite a while. I have just been busy and a bit lazy to actually start blogging. My good friend Chuck has a blog on here and I thought that it may be fun to try it out. I have no idea how this is going to work out but you never will find out unless your try. I am sure I will have some growing pains figuring out the features on here but I will see what happens.
Anyway, I just wanted to post a quick note to get going to see how all of this is going to work. Until next time.
